About SCHADS Check
SCHADS Check is a free tool for checking pay under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (the SCHADS Award). It’s built in Sydney by a software engineer with a background in legal tech.
The SCHADS Award is one of the hardest awards to get right. Broken shifts, sleepovers, minimum engagement and penalty rates all interact, and small mistakes add up over a year. Most small providers can’t afford a payroll audit, and support workers rarely have an easy way to check their own payslips. This tool gives both a quick second opinion.
Who it’s for
- Small NDIS and disability support providers checking their pay runs
- Bookkeepers who run payroll for care providers
- Support workers who want to check their payslip
How it works
You enter the shifts from one pay period and the gross pay on the payslip. The tool applies the award rules shift by shift and shows where the payslip and the award differ. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to us; it’s only saved in your own browser so you don’t lose it.
Limits
This is general information, not legal or payroll advice. The tool covers disability services work in the social and community services stream in NSW, and doesn’t yet cover weekly overtime, travel time between clients, client cancellations or 24-hour shifts. Always check results with the Fair Work Ombudsman or a qualified adviser.
